What asphalt work costs in Philadelphia

We only list numbers from published sources that give a Philadelphia figure. All figures in this table come from HomeBlue's Philadelphia cost guides, published in 2022, so expect current quotes to differ. Treat them as a starting point, not a quote.

A Philadelphia price moves with old driveway removal, base work, access, and asphalt thickness. We did not find a sourced local figure for patching alone, so ask each contractor to price it separately.

City permits and the public right-of-way

Paving that stays entirely on your own lot does not touch the public right-of-way, but the driveway apron and curb at the street do.

Driveway and curb cut permits. The City of Philadelphia Streets Department says a permit is required for any new or existing curb cut or driveway. Plans go through right-of-way plan review in the City's eCLIPSE permitting system. The Streets Department right-of-way unit can be reached at 215-685-5501.

Ask any contractor you hire whether they will pull the permit or whether you must, and get that in writing.
